Reginald Thomas was an Austrian ambassador .
Life
Reginald Thomas joined the foreign service in 1951. From 1951 to 1952 he was employed in the Federal Chancellery, Foreign Affairs Department, before he worked in Bern from 1952 to 1956. He then returned to the Federal Chancellery, Foreign Affairs Department, until 1959. From 1959 to 1962 he worked in Tokyo . From 1962 to 1968, Thomas headed the General Secretariat in the Federal Ministry for Foreign Affairs. As ambassador he was in Karachi from 1968 to 1971 and in Tokyo from 1971 to 1975. He then headed the personnel department of the Federal Ministry for Foreign Affairs from 1975 to 1976 and the administrative section of the Federal Ministry for Foreign Affairs from 1976 to 1982. Thomas was Ambassador to the Court of St James’s from February 18, 1982 to December 7, 1987 . He then worked as General Inspector of the Federal Ministry for Foreign Affairs from 1988 to 1993.
