Walter Magrutsch

Walter Magrutsch (born July 16, 1929 in Zistersdorf ; † June 16, 2014 in Vienna ) was an Austrian ambassador .

Life

Walter Magrutsch joined the foreign service in 1954. From 1954 to 1955 he was employed in the Foreign Affairs Department of the Federal Chancellery. From 1955 to 1956 he worked in New Delhi , from 1956 to 1961 in Bonn and from 1961 to 1964 in the Foreign Ministry. In 1964 he moved to Prague , where he stayed until 1969. From 1969 to 1974 he was employed in the Eastern European Department of the Foreign Ministry. From 1974 to 1978 he was ambassador to Ottawa and from 1978 to 1981 in Brasilia. From 1982 to 1987 he headed Department IV / 3 and Section IV, Legal and Consular Affairs, of the Federal Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

From December 10, 1987 to December 11, 1993 he was Ambassador to the Court of St James’s .

Since 1949 he was a member of the Catholic student union KaV Norica Vienna .

Magrutsch was buried at the Dobling cemetery .
