history

In 1819, still in the era of the Restoration , the savings fund was founded as the oldest bank in the canton of Solothurn. It was governed by public law and partly with a charitable purpose: an investment opportunity for savings that flowed into mortgage loans for landowners. In 1865 another bank, the Solothurnische Leihkasse, was founded to expand the business group. The two institutes were legally separate, but were managed uniformly in organizational terms. The two banks merged to form the Regiobank in 1990.
