Regret is a short film by Santiago Menghini that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2020 .
action
It's night and fog hangs over the city's skyscrapers. Wayne is in his hotel room dealing with his father's death. His sister asks him over the phone to contact her mother. In his room in the Hotel “San Lago” he looks at old videos / recordings of himself and his father, who always called him “junior”. During a phone call with his mother, she asks him to guess who is with her. It's supposed to be his daddy and he wants to tell him something. Before that happens, the conversation is interrupted, and a hand that comes out from under his bed pulls his smartphone under it. There is a knock on the door, but he cannot see anyone outside through the peephole.
Then he sees the shadows and outlines of a person in his room. The dark figure with the shining eyes has a knife with him. Wayne runs out of the room, but there is no one in the lobby and there is no other human being. Suddenly he sees his father. This beats a version of his younger self, a pain that Wayne also feels. The dark figure stabs him. He asks for mercy and leaves the hotel, but the figure hurries after him.
