Regulator (law)

Regulators (English / Latin, "folder"), are members of a kind of people's court that had formed in the USA since 1830, first in Arkansas , later also in Texas and in the interior of Missouri as well as in most slave states .

Regulators saw themselves as legislators, judges and executors at the same time in order to establish legal order in the newly populated and largely lawless areas. They acted in the Feme manner largely with lynching and beat, bumped , hanged or shot the alleged criminals depending on the circumstances. Their work was increasingly determined by arbitrariness. The Ku Klux Klan has continued in this tradition since the civil war (1861–1865) .
