Reichenberg is a district of the Lower Bavarian district town of Pfarrkirchen in the Rottal-Inn district . It is the easternmost part of the city. Before the incorporation, which came into force on January 1, 1972, Reichenberg was a separate parish that enclosed parish churches in the east and north.

location

Reichenberg lies in the Rottal a little east of parish churches, with which it has grown together today.

history

Reichenberg Castle was first mentioned around 800. In 1259 the property went to Duke Heinrich XIII. and as early as 1260 Reichenberg was considered the property of the duke. This taking possession was also part of the displacement of the Ortenburgers by the Wittelsbachers at the time .

A ducal judge is named for the first time in 1279. In 1380 the ducal nursing court was established in Reichenberg. In 1648 the castle was taken by the Swedes and burned down except for the manor house. The engraver Michael Wening left a picture of the electoral palace , which looked down on the Rottal from the approximately hundred meter high hilltop. Reichenberg had the status of a lordly Hofmark , which was administered by the respective keeper. In 1752, Reichenberg consisted of 23 properties.

In 1803 the court moved to what was then the market parish church, and the castle complex was demolished in 1804. The Schlossberghaus, which stood almost alone on the Reichenberg for a long time, was later built with the stone material of the same. In the 20th century, numerous newly built houses were added on the slope, which means that Reichenberg grew closer and closer to parish churches.

The district court municipality of Reichenberg emerged in 1818 from the tax district of the same name . In 1964 the community consisted of 43 districts. It was dissolved on January 1, 1972 in the course of the regional reform in Bavaria and attached to the city of Pfarrkirchen. With around 2800 inhabitants, it was the largest municipality in terms of population and area that was incorporated into parish churches.

There is a vantage point on the top of the mountain, which offers a wide view of the Rottal valley. The former castle is now operated as a eatery with a beer garden.
