The Reichsbahndirektion Cottbus (abbreviated Rbd Cottbus ) was an administrative district of the Deutsche Reichsbahn .

history

Building of the former Rbd Cottbus

The Reichsbahndirektion was established on May 5, 1945 on the orders of the Soviet occupying forces, but was not fully legally competent until November 1, 1945. The newly established directorate took over the areas of the Reichsbahndirections Wroclaw and East remaining in the Soviet occupation zone , as well as areas given by the Reichsbahndirections Dresden and Halle . With the nationalization of the private railways in 1949, the area of the Cottbus Directorate expanded again. It comprised a 1400-kilometer route network covering an area of 12,000 square kilometers, which was spread over 85 percent of the area of the Cottbus district , 50 percent of the Dresden district , 15 percent of the Frankfurt (Oder) district and ten percent of the Potsdam district. There were Reichsbahn offices in Cottbus, Bautzen and Senftenberg . In 1955, the lines around Bautzen, Görlitz and Zittau were incorporated by the Dresden management.

On October 15, 1990, the Cottbus Rbd was dissolved and the lines were divided between the Reichsbahndirectors Berlin and Dresden.
