The Reichsbund Volkstum und Heimat was founded in 1933 by Werner Haverbeck . The tasks of the organization were published in a party official announcement of July 27, 1933. The aim was to bring the associations into line in the field of folk culture and homeland maintenance . The management was given to Karl Alexander von Müller . Haverbeck took over the organizational tasks and the publication of the journal Volkstum und Heimat - Blätter für National Socialist Volkstumsarbeit und Lebensbildung from April 1934.

The first Reich Meeting took place from October 5th to 8th, 1933 in Kassel .

It was dissolved in autumn 1934. Only the bird protection associations were forcibly amalgamated in the Reichsbund für Vogelschutz in 1938 .
