Reido is a funeral doom band founded in 2002 .

history

The band was founded in Minsk in 2002 by guitarists Alexander Kachar and Anton Matveev. Kachar also took over the vocals while Matveev added the sound via synthesizers, keyboards and extensive sound programming. The duo released a first demo in 2005 to which Solitude Productions responded. The recordings F: \ all appeared as a debut album on the Russian independent label back in 2006 . The album was judged to be a good debut and a fitting addition to the catalog of the Funeral Doom and Death Doom label. In the same year the project released the song Detect Memory as a download single.

After the debut and the download single, there were no further publications for several years. The album -11 was only released on November 11, 2011 via Slow Burn Records with a changed musical direction , partly oriented towards post-metal . Reviewers rated -11 as a fairly average publication.

The third studio album Anātman was released again years after its previous release in October 2019 via Aesthetic Death Records . For the recordings, the drummer Dmitry Kochkin became part of the band. The musical direction combined ideas from the two previous albums and was judged to be a good and innovative release.

style

The webzine Doom-Metal.com describes the music played by Reido as “slow, sludgy and raw funeral with an oscillating keyboard, melodic influences of death metal and ambient passages.” The second album, however, acts with more groove and dynamics. According to a review for Webzine Metal.de, this release would be in a gray area between Funeral Doom, Sludge and Doom Metal. The album Anātman is judged to be similarly dynamic .

The riffing is mostly static, the prevailing rhythm extremely slow and the vocals are mostly presented as a guttural growling occasionally as a whisper.
