The Reiherweg is the northern and last part of Lower Saxony's Three Lakes Route . This connects the three largest and most important bodies of water in this region, the Dümmer See, the Thülsfelder Talsperre and the Zwischenahner Meer . North of the Thülsfeld dam, the route signs change from “Cycle Path Oldenburger Münsterland” to “Reiherweg”. South of the coastal channel , it meets the district of Ammerland near Süddorf and follows the former small railway line via Edewecht to Bad Zwischenahn . It crosses old moorland , the typical feature of which is still the vastness of the former moorland.
