Reimar Leschber

Reimar Leschber (born June 20, 1929 in Berlin ) is a German chemist.

Life

Leschber studied chemistry in Berlin and on the theme "For the analysis of biogenic amines" doctorate . From 1958 to 1960 he worked at Schering AG in Berlin, developing high polymers, after which he moved to the Riedel-de Haen company. From 1963 to 1993 Leschber worked at the Institute for Water, Soil and Air Hygiene, which he left as deputy director.

Leschber has been involved in standardization since the 1970s . From 1970 to 1990 he headed the “Analytical Methods” working group of COST 68 and COST 681 of the European Commission for the treatment and recycling of sewage sludge, which was involved in the development of European Directive 86/278 / EEC on the protection of the environment. Leschber advised the Federal Ministry of the Interior on the preparation of the Maximum Phosphate Quantity Ordinance and the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety on the preparation of the Sewage Sludge Ordinance . In 2004 he was awarded the Great Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for his services in the implementation of environmentally relevant requirements in the determination of substances hazardous to water and soil in national and international standardization .
