Reimer Johannes Meyer-Jens

Reimer Johannes Meyer-Jens (born July 3, 1931 in Uetersen ; † May 6, 2019 in Munich ) was a German civil engineer .

Reimer Johannes Meyer-Jens studied civil engineering at the TH Hannover . In 1964 he received his doctorate at the Institute for Statics of the TH Hannover with the dissertation “Introduction of shear loads in circumferentially stiffened cylindrical membrane shells with elliptical cross-sectional shape”. Meyer-Jens then held a managerial position for Focke-Wulf , renamed as Vereinigte Flugtechnische Werke in 1963 , in Bremen. From 1971 to 1978 he also held a teaching position at the Ruhr University in Bochum .

In 1978 he was offered a professorship at the Technical University of Munich , where he succeeded Gerhard Czerwenka as a full professor at the chair for lightweight construction. In 1996 he retired.
