Reinaldo Gargano Ostuni (born July 26, 1934 in Paysandú , Uruguay; † February 5, 2013 ) was a Uruguayan politician and diplomat.

He held the office of Uruguayan Foreign Minister from March 1, 2005 to March 3, 2008 and was chairman of the Partido Socialista del Uruguay ( German  Socialist Party of Uruguay ) since 2001 and a member of the Senate since 1984.

After the 1973 military coup, Gargano went into exile in Spain in 1974 , but returned to Uruguay a few years later and assumed the post of General Secretary of the PSU for 16 years.

Shortly after Gargano became foreign minister, the country resumed diplomatic relations with Cuba .

Gargano was married to Judith Grauert († October 26, 2010), the founder of Instituto Mujer y Sociedad and daughter Héctor Grauert . The couple had two children.
