Reiner Foerst

Reiner Foerst (born November 30, 1933 in Gummersbach ; † February 2, 2009 there ) was a German entrepreneur .

Life

Reiner Foerst studied electrical engineering at the Technical University of Darmstadt , where he received his Dr.-Ing. PhD. As early as 1961 he was working as a research assistant, first in Mannheim for the German Research Foundation , then in Oregon for the US Department of the Interior on the mathematical, analog and digital simulation of dynamic processes in energy transmission systems and power plants. On May 13, 1975, he applied for a patent for his overall concept for the world's first commercial driving simulator in Germany, the USA and Japan. He developed training equipment, motorcycle and forklift simulators and applied for over 60 patents. In 1976 he founded Foerst GmbH to market his inventions. He acquired the license to use the name "Nürburgring" and in 1978 constructed a motorcycle simulator "Nürburgring / 2" as a floor-standing device with handlebars. In his free time he was a jazz musician, athlete and joke researcher.
