Reinhard Boos (* 1956 in Iserlohn ) is a German administrative lawyer . From 1999 to 2002 and from 2007 to 2012 he was President of the State Office for the Protection of the Constitution of the Free State of Saxony .

Life

Boos studied law at the University of Münster . In August 1992 he joined the public service in the Free State of Saxony. He helped to set up the State Office for the Protection of the Constitution, which was newly founded in November 1992, initially became its vice-president under the leadership of Mathilde Koller and, after her successor Eckehardt Dietrich retired due to old age, became president of the office from June 1999.

At the end of 2002 he moved to the Saxon Ministry of the Interior , where he headed the Department for Foreigners and Asylum Affairs.

In June 2007, the then Minister of the Interior of Saxony, Albrecht Buttolo , called him back to the Office for the Protection of the Constitution because Boos's successor, Rainer Stock , had been recalled there in the course of the turbulence surrounding the alleged Saxon swamp. The allegations in the affair were based on information collected by the state office, which later turned out to be untenable.

Due to a mishap in his office in connection with the investigation into the right-wing extremist terror group National Socialist Underground (NSU), Boos resigned on July 11, 2012 and applied for his transfer with effect from August 1, 2012. When an employee changed rooms due to restructuring of the office was in his Tresor found a file with logs of telephone surveillance (according to media reports from a member of the banned Blood and Honor network ) from the end of 1998, which the State Office had prepared on behalf of the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution , and which was considered lost due to the destruction of files there. Before that, Boos had always assured the Saxon Interior Minister that he had made all the documents available to the investigative authorities and the first NSU investigative committee of the Bundestag . His successor is Gordian Meyer-Plath .
