Reinhard Wiesend

Reinhard Wiesend (* 25. May 1946 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen ) is a musicologist and emeritus professors .

Wiesend studied musicology in Munich (among others with Thrasybulos Georgiades ) and received his doctorate in 1981 in Würzburg (with Wolfgang Osthoff ). In 1987 he received his habilitation . He then worked in Venice, Bayreuth and Palermo, among others. 2000–2007 he headed the musicological institute at the University of Mainz .

Wiesend's research interests include the Italian opera of the 18th century (including Joseph Martin Kraus , Johann Simon Mayr , Johann Adolf Hasse ) and Hans Pfitzner .
