Reinhard Windhager

Reinhard Windhager (born September 13, 1957 in Linz ) is an Austrian orthopedist .

Career

Reinhard Windhager received his doctorate in medicine from the University of Innsbruck in 1981 and, after completing his training at the Linz General Hospital and the University Clinic for Orthopedics in Vienna, became a specialist in orthopedics in 1988.

In 1986, Windhager received the Michael Jäger Prize for his work The Status of the Ossicle and Therapy by M. Osgood Schlatter .

From 1988 to 1997 Windhager worked at the University Clinic for Orthopedics in Vienna, the Children's Clinic in Glanzing and the St. Anna Children's Hospital, with different emphases in the field of orthopedics.

In 1995, Reinhard Windhager completed his habilitation in orthopedics and orthopedic surgery and in 1997 was appointed full professor for orthopedics and head of the clinical department for orthopedics and orthopedic surgery at the surgical university clinic of the Karl Franzens University in Graz . Windhager set up the University Clinic for Orthopedics at the Karl-Franzenz-University and was appointed its head of the clinic in 2001.

In 2002 and 2003 Windhager was President of the Austrian Society for Orthopedics and Orthopedic Surgery (ÖGO) and Vice President in the two following years. In 2006 Windhager was the President of the Central European Orthopedic Congress . In addition, Windhager is on the board of the Society of Doctors in Vienna . From 2014 to 2015 Windhager was President of ISOLS (International Society of Limb Salvage).

He is currently head of the University Clinic for Orthopedics at the Vienna General Hospital.

So far (as of 2013) Windhager has contributed to around 200 scientific publications. Windhager is also involved in a patent filed in 1999 for the restoration of vertebrae.
