history

The University of Technology and Economics was opened on October 16, 1988 as part of the program initiative University in the Rural Area of the State of Baden-Württemberg as a branch of the Heilbronn University and completed in 1993. In order to counteract a possible closure due to a continuously low number of students, the construction of an extension began on July 6, 2001 for around DM 15 million (approx. € 7.5 million), which was inaugurated on May 21, 2003. In April 2005 the branch office was officially renamed Reinhold-Würth-Hochschule in honor of the entrepreneur Reinhold Würth . Through his group of companies, he had set up the foundation for the promotion of the Reinhold-Würth University of Heilbronn University in Künzelsau and committed to provide the foundation with an amount totaling 10 million euros from 2005. The proceeds from the foundation are intended to benefit research and teaching at the Reinhold-Würth University.
