Reinhold Festge
Reinhold Festge (born November 10, 1945 in Oelde ) is a German entrepreneur and was President of the Association of German Mechanical and Plant Engineering (VDMA) from 2013 to 2016 .
Life
After graduating from high school in 1965, Festge served in the army until 1967.
He then studied and obtained his doctorate in human medicine from 1967 to 1973 at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster , then from 1974 to 1979 he studied business administration at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich .
From 1980 he started working for Haver & Boecker in Oelde. From 1987 to 2013 he was personally liable managing partner of the mechanical engineering and wire weaving company.
Its product range extends from packaging and processing technology to wire mesh and wire mesh products for industrial and architectural applications. The medium-sized company, which has existed since 1887, employs over 2,700 people worldwide. The group's turnover in 2012 was 402 million euros.
In addition to his entrepreneurial activity, Festge is committed to representing the interests of the Association of German Mechanical and Plant Engineering: From 1998 to 2004 he was chairman of the construction and building material machinery trade association, and from 2005 to 2011 he was chairman of the state association of North Rhine-Westphalia . On October 18, 2013 Festge in Stuttgart was elected President of the VDMA. Festge left Haver & Boecker as managing director at the end of 2013, but is still a partner. He has also been a member and deputy chairman for many years, and since 2003 chairman of the board of trustees of Marienhospital Oelde, a Catholic hospital in the legal form of a foundation. Festge is also chairman of the advisory board set up at the end of 2017 for the largest German meat company, Tönnies .
