Reinhold Friedrichs

Reinhold Friedrichs (born May 8, 1886 in Hüls near Krefeld, † July 28, 1964 in Münster ) was a German Roman Catholic clergyman.

Life

Reinhold Friedrichs was ordained a priest on June 1, 1912 in Münster. He spent his time as chaplain in Bocholt and Borken. From 1922 he was the first full-time religion teacher at the municipal vocational schools in Münster. At the same time he was the Gau Preses of the DJK .

In 1935 Friedrichs was banned from any further activity as a religion teacher because of "political and ideological unreliability". After he had held a religious week in the Heilig Geist church in Recklinghausen-Essel and had preached about the "Stations of the Cross" of an imprisoned priest, he was arrested on March 8, 1941 by the Gestapo . He was sent to the Sachsenhausen concentration camp . On September 12, 1941, he was transferred to the Dachau concentration camp , where he spent three and a half years until liberation on April 5, 1945. Throughout his life he was severely affected by his imprisonment in the concentration camp.

On December 17, 1945 he was appointed non-resident cathedral chapter in Münster . On January 22, 1960, he was appointed papal house prelate .
