Reinier Vinkeles
Reinier Vinkeles (born January 12, 1741 in Amsterdam ; † January 30, 1816 there ) was a Dutch draftsman and engraver .
Vinkeles began his apprenticeship with Jan Punt. In 1762 he went to the Amsterdam State Drawing Academy, and in 1765 to Brabant . In 1770 Vinkeles moved to Paris to live with Jacques-Philippe Le Bas and the Dutch artists Hermanus Numan and Izaak de Wit. After a year he came back home and started to work independently in Amsterdam. He later became director of the Amsterdam Drawing Academy. He turned down an offer from Catherine the Great to become director of the Art Academy in St. Petersburg .
Jacob Ernst Marcus (1774-1826) and Daniël Vrijdag (1765-1822) as well as his brother Hermanus Vinkeles and his sons Abraham and Johannes were among his students.
