The equestrian statue of King Friedrich Wilhelm III. is a monument to the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm III. in the city of Merseburg in Saxony-Anhalt .

It is located in the listed castle garden , north of Merseburg Castle , west of the course of the Saale .
Architecture and history
The monument shows the king, larger than life, sitting on a horse. The bronze sculpture stands on a narrow, high plinth, on the front of which is the inscription referring to the king: Friedrich Wilhelm the Third 1797 - 1840 . The statue was created by Louis Tuaillon in 1910/11, according to other sources in 1913 or 1918 . It is said to have only actually been erected in the palace garden in 1935, although a ceremonial unveiling was waived. After restoration, the monument was re-erected in 1998.
