The equestrian statue of Emperor Ludwig of Bavaria is a bronze monument in the old town of Munich .

The listed statue with the file number D-1-62-000-8704 shows the Bavarian Duke and Roman-German Emperor Ludwig the Bavarian (1281 / 82-1347) sitting on a horse. The sculpture was cast in 1967 based on a draft by the sculptor Hans Wimmer and stands north of the Alter Hof on a high, slightly tapered base made of Nagelfluh . At this point the monument reminds of the special relationship between Ludwig the Bavarian and the Old Court, which has also been expressed in the name of the permanent exhibition in Munich's Imperial Castle since 2007 . It was included in the Bavarian list of monuments in 2013 as an architectural monument .

In Munich there is another equestrian statue of Ludwig the Bavarian on Kaiser-Ludwig-Platz .
