The Reliant Regent is a small three-wheeled delivery van that was built by the Reliant Motor Company in Tamworth ( England ) from 1950 to 1956 as the successor to the similarly designed Reliant Van .

The wagons had a ladder frame made of rectangular steel tubes, in which a driven rear axle was suspended from leaf springs. At the front the two longitudinal members were bent upwards and supported on a single front wheel that was suspended from a parallelogram fork with a barrel coil spring. This front wheel was steered via a steering wheel.

Behind it sat the water-cooled, side-controlled inline four-cylinder engine, which was derived from the engine of the Austin Seven . From a cubic capacity of 747 cc he obtained 17 bhp (12.5 kW), which was passed on to the rear axle differential via a connected four-speed gearbox with center shift and a short cardan shaft. All three wheels were fitted with mechanical drum brakes. Instead of the wire spoke wheels of its predecessor, the Regent was the first Reliant to have perforated steel disc wheels.

Depending on the area of ​​application, there were different bodies, from the four-seater motor rickshaw with a fabric roof to flatbed trucks with a steel driver's cab to closed delivery and sales vehicles with an all-steel body. But the motorcycle fork with the front wheel, the front fender and the single, handlebar-mounted headlight always looked out of the cab.

Besides the "big" Regent with a payload of approx. 10 cwt (500 kg) there was also a smaller version called the Reliant Prince Regent , which was offered from 1952 to 1954.

2,953 pieces of the Regent were built in seven years, the Prince Regent was built only 247 times in three years. In 1956, utility vehicle versions of the shelf replaced the two small delivery vans.
