Inuvik region

Inuvik Region is one of five administrative regions in the Northwest Territories . The regional office is based in Inuvik , one of the eight municipalities in the region. These are mostly in the area of the Beaufort Sea coast. The population is composed mainly of Inuvialuit ( Inuit ) and Gwich'in ( First Nation ).
Between 1999 and 2011 there was also a Census Division named “Inuvik Region” by Statistics Canada . These census regions are used for statistical purposes only. The spatial extent of this region, one of then two census regions in the territory, was larger than the administrative region of the same name. The territory is now divided into six census regions.

a A charter community is a special type of community in the territory. In addition to Tsiigehtchic, Deline and Fort Good Hope also have the status of a charter community .
