Paulatuk ("place of coal") is a community in the Canadian Northwest Territories , north of the Arctic Circle . It is located at a height of 15 meters on Darnley Bay on the Amundsen Gulf . The community is located in the Tuktut Nogait National Park . At the 2006 census, the place had 294 inhabitants, of which 265 were Inuit . English and Inuvialuktun are spoken.
The community cannot be reached by road, but there is an airport that Aklak Air flies to from Inuvik three times a week. During the ice-free time, the place is approached once by ship from Hay River by Northern Transportation Company Limited .
