This leads from Grimshaw, Alberta, to the Hay River and thus connects the Northwest Territories with the south of the country. In 1959, the Canadian logistics and shipping company Northern Transportation Company opened its headquarters on the river. From there, goods and other materials are still shipped to other communities and cities such as B. to Inuvik and Tuktoyaktuk and other communities on the Arctic Ocean, such as Taloyoak, Nunavut to Barrow, Alaska, transported.
