Band history

Remioromen were founded in December 2000 in the still current formation in the Japanese prefecture of Yamanashi . According to the members, the band name has no meaning and is just the result of a play on words.

On November 25, 2003, Remioromen had their first live performance in the Shibuya district of Tokyo , where many other artists have already performed their first appearances. Since then they have managed to keep climbing the Japanese Oricon charts. The three played their third single Sangatsu Kokonoka in their old school in Yamanashi . In 2005, an orchestral version of the song was recorded and used as the theme song of the J-drama Ichi Rittoru no Namida (English 1 Liter Of Tears ). In addition, the track Konayuki was used as an insert song for the drama. This gave the band a lot of popularity and an enormous boom, which led to Konayuki being one of the best-selling singles in Japan in 2005, and their third album HORIZON was number one on the Oricon charts for several weeks. At the MTV Video Music Awards Japan 2006 , Remioromens Video for Konayuki won the award for Best Pop Music Video.
