Rémy Chauvin

Rémy Andrew Joseph Chauvin (born October 10, 1913 in Toulon , † December 8, 2009 in Sainte-Croix-aux-Mines , Département Haut-Rhin ) was a French biologist and entomologist , most recently honorary professor emeritus at the Sorbonne . It was also interested in topics like parapsychology , life after death, extrasensory perception, and UFOs . He published more than 50 books, mostly on ethology . He became known to the German public through translations of his non-fiction books.

Life

As the son of the biologist Mary-Louise Taupin, he attended high school at the Laval College, then studied for four years at the medical faculty and taught at the Sorbonne. He worked exemplarily on bees and other insects. In 1977 he was a co-founder of the French League for Animal Rights .

Positions

As a biologist, he took a critical position on Darwinism and sociobiology . His curiosity about parapsychological studies and related publications drew criticism from skeptics.
