René-Antoine Houasse

René-Antoine Houasse (* around 1645 ; † 1710 ) was a French painter .

Life

Houasse was a student of the French painter Charles Le Brun , under whose direction he worked at the tapestry manufactory in Paris. Together with him he worked on the decoration of the Palace of Versailles . From 1669 to 1704 Houasse was director of the Académie de France à Rome . His son was the French painter Michel-Ange Houasse .
