Emil Gasser

Emil Gasser (born December 8, 1847 in Idstein , † April 13, 1919 in Marburg ) was a German anatomist.

Life

Gasser attended what was later to become the Lessing Gymnasium (Frankfurt am Main) . After graduating from high school, he studied medicine from 1868 at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg and the Philipps-Universität Marburg . In 1869 he became a corps bow bearer of Teutonia zu Marburg . His academic teachers were Guido Richard Wagener and Nathanael Lieberkühn . In 1872 he became an assistant at the anatomical institute of the University of Marburg. In 1873 he received his doctorate. In 1874 he completed his habilitation in anatomy. In 1883 he was appointed associate professor . From 1884 to 1887 he was full professor of anatomy at the University of Bern . From there he was appointed to the chair of the University of Marburg. From 1914 to 1917 he was a senior staff doctor in the field. His developmental work was of particular scientific importance.
