René Demeurisse
René Demeurisse (born August 26, 1895 in Paris ; † November 12, 1961 there ) was a French painter .
Life
Demeurisse was born the son of a Flemish doctor and his Polish wife in the Parisian Faubourg Saint-Antoine. From 1913 he studied painting at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière with Lucien Simon . Interrupted by the First World War, he continued his studies with Edmond Aman-Jean . In 1923 he met his future wife, Jeanne Blois, in the studio of the sculptor François Pompon , with whom he had two children.
From 1929 to 1939 Demeurisse taught at the École Nationale de Céramique de Sèvres . In addition to painting, he worked in the field of book illustration .
From 1919 Demeurisse was a member of the Paris Autumn Salon , where he exhibited his works. In 1955 he was appointed a member of the Legion of Honor.
