history

prehistory

As early as the 13th century, the first church in the early Gothic style was built in Eiersheim - probably as a fortified church due to an existing choir tower and a circular wall - and consecrated to St. Sebastian. The remains of this church building are still preserved in the tower of today's Margaretakirche. The former choir was first mentioned in a document in 1515 and has been preserved as a baptistery to this day.

Around 1680 the older church building was partially replaced. This renewed church was already consecrated to St. Margaret . At that time, a long house as a wooden structure was added to the choir tower in an east-west direction. When this had become dilapidated at the beginning of the 19th century, planning for the new church began in 1814.

Margaretakirche

Today's St. Margaret's Church was added to the old church tower in 1831 and renovated several times in the 20th century. In its tower to the north of the nave there is a remnant of the old church, which was certified as early as 1515.

The Margaretakirche in Eiersheim belongs to the pastoral care unit Külsheim-Bronnbach, which has been assigned to the Tauberbischofsheim deanery of the Archdiocese of Freiburg since a reform of the deanery on January 1, 2008 .
