List of cultural monuments in Külsheim

The list of cultural monuments in Külsheim includes immovable architectural and art monuments from all parts of the city of Külsheim . The basis for this list is the list of architectural and art monuments published by the Stuttgart Regional Council as of February 15, 2012. The article is part of the higher-level list of cultural monuments in the Main-Tauber district . This list is not legally binding. Legally binding information is only available on request from the Lower Monument Protection Authority of the city of Külsheim.

Small monuments such as wayside shrines, statues and wayside crosses have been preserved in large numbers in the city area. The reason lies in the agricultural structure that has existed since the Middle Ages. In modern times there was no densification of settlement and industry as in the metropolitan areas, so that these cultural monuments were largely preserved in the open air . In addition to numerous monuments and wayside shrines, the list includes 18 fountains in Külsheim alone. This is why the city is widely known as the Well City .

The so-called Swedish Cross was covered by erosion for a long time and was dug up again in September 1965. During the Thirty Years War, a Swedish officer is said to have been murdered by his own soldiers because of his cruelty. The cross does not have to come from the time of the 30 Years War, it could also be older as an atonement cross for manslaughter.

	Stone cross	At the church (Flst. No. 1) (map)		Small monument no.03 (Eiersheim): stone cross. Left of the main entrance to the church. The baroque cross with a base stood in the former cemetery within the churchyard wall until the 1960s. When this old wall was demolished, the cross was placed to the left of the main entrance to the church.

Until the redesign of the cemetery, it was located in the middle of the cemetery laid out outside the village in 1841. Since then the cross has stood on the upper, western wall of the cemetery.

Description: The relief depicts a kneeling man praying with raised hands in front of a cross with a corpus. Original was stolen on the night of March 17-18, 1984. Inscription: 1579. ANDREAS STÜTZEL.

At the chapel there is this wayside shrine with a Gothic supporting arch and a cross on it. A skull and a bone are depicted on the shaft of the cross. Inscription: 1615.

At the exit of the village towards Uissigheim is the "Stang Bild" from 1617. It is named after the founder of the wayside shrine. The motif of the picture is the crucifixion group with Mary and John. In the arch above the picture is a sign with a ploughshare. Inscription: 1617 HAT WENDELIN STANG DIS BILT GOT TO EREN UPRIGHT LASE. WENDEL STANG.

At the K 2881 (from the beginning of the town in Eiersheim as Tauberbischofsheimer Straße). On the road to Tauberbischofsheim in the Gewann Drei Bilder at the boundary of the district. On the relief is the crucifixion group with Mary and John. The year 1634 is written under the crossbar of the cross.
	Wayside shrine	Alter Uissigheimer Weg (Flst. No. 5.530) (map)		Small memorial No. 11 (Eiersheim): wayside shrine. The wayside shrine is on the old Uissigheimer Weg. The scene with the Holy Family under an apple tree depicted on the picture head is quite unusual. Inscription: JOSEF AND MARY UNDER AN APPLE TREE WITH THEIR LOVED JESULIN.

It is a "Our Lady of Sorrows" with two crying puttos. On the winding vine-entwined column is a very beautiful Corinthian capital with an angel's head. Inscription: GOT IN PRAISE AND HONOR, GEORGE GROSS HAVE ERECTED THIS PICTURE 1769.

On the relief an angel shows the Walldürner holy blood scarf. The panel was made in the period from 6.-15. Stolen August 1983. Inscription: Erected in 1733, renovated in 1937.
	Wayside shrine	Hohe Straße (an) (Flst. No. 10.186) (map)	1831	Small monument no. 18 (Eiersheim): Holy blood shrine on Hohen Strasse (to the blood miracle of Walldürn ). On an oval plate with volutes is the Holy Blood Corporale, above is an angel's head with wings. Inscription: IN HONOR TO THE HOLY BLOOD 1831.

On the road to Tauberbischofsheim. The wayside shrine donated by Sebastian Göbel in 1870 bears a Pieta as a relief. It was stolen from August 6th to 15th, 1983. Inscription: Pray for us Mary .
	Wayside shrine	Quarry / high-rise buildings Grund (map)	1964	Small monument No. 21 (Eiersheim): wayside shrine on Hochhäuser Weg next to the quarry. The German-American Linus Egenberger donated this wayside shrine made in a modern cross-shaped style in 1964. Inscription: O all of you who pass by, see if a pain is like mine.
	Stone cross	Hohe Straße (an) (Flst. No. 10.166) (map)		Small monument no.22 (Eiersheim): stone cross. In the forest on the high road. This artificial stone cross was formerly used as a grave cross in the cemetery in Eiersheim. Since the grave had to be cleared, the owner moved it to his private forest. The body is made of bronze.

At the corner of Steige and Tauberbischofsheimer Strasse is this memorial stone to the war of 1870/71. It was built in 1890. All those involved in the war are named on the memorial. Inscription: Honor the brave warriors. Memory of the campaign of 1870-71. Dedicated by the community. 1890.

On the initiative of the Eiersheim Heimatverein, a memorial stone with a brass plaque was erected in the Heistenberg district to commemorate the plane crash twenty years ago. The two pilots of the Canadian fighter bomber were killed in the accident. Inscription: AGAINST FORGETTING. October 17, 1975. Canadian phantom fighter plane crash.

Ammersbach from Wertheim in 1867. On two sides of the memorial the names, place of origin and troop unit of a total of 21 soldiers who died in battle or who died as a result of the injuries are listed.

More pictures	Way of the Cross	Stahlberg (map)	1867-1869	Small monuments no. 32–46 (Uissigheim): The stations of the cross on Uissigheimer Stahlberg built from 1867 to 1869 are made of red sandstone. The Way of the Cross comprises 15 stations, 14 of which are actual Stations of the Cross and a similar preliminary station. They were created by the artist family Buscher from Gamburg. In 1870 the Stahlberg Chapel was built at the end of the Way of the Cross.
