geography

Location of the Otterhof special area within the Steinbach area after a survey from 1884

The Otterhof was near the Otterbach of the same name , a right tributary to the Erfa .

history

The Otterhof was first mentioned in a document as Otterbach in 1485 , when it was sold to the Count of Wertheim by the Lords of Riedern .

The nearby Gickelhof was mentioned in a document as Oberotterbach in 1426 and was only called Gickelhaus since 1485 ; At that time, however, it was still considered an outpost of the nearby Otterhof. Like the other farms in the area (the Gickelhof and the Vordere and Hintere Meßhof), the Otterhof was created as a clearing settlement .

After 1668 the Otterhof was given up and probably settled again in the 18th century. In 1882 the farm was given up again. The buildings of the Otterhof were demolished around 1890, even before the special demarcation around 1925, like the other special demarcations in the area, became part of the then independent municipality of Steinbach. On January 1, 1975 Steinbach was again incorporated into the city of Külsheim.

Small monuments

In the area of the former Otterhof there are two small monuments:

  • Small memorial No. 10 (Steinbach): cross picture stick.
  • Small memorial no.12 (Steinbach): memorial plaque.
