Giovanni Bernardo Zucchinetti

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Giovanni Bernardo Zucchinetti (also Giovan Battista Zucchinetti and Giovan Bernardo Zucchinetti ; born November 10, 1730 in Suna, Verbania ; November 11, 1801 in Monza ) was an Italian composer and organist .

Surname

Two works by Zucchinetti have come down to us in a manuscript in the music archive of the Einsiedeln Monastery . The interpretation of the capital letters of the surname resulted in a wrong reading - more frequent confusion of capital letter Z with capital letter L. The resulting incorrect surname Lucchinetti instead of Zucchinetti was also used in the edition of the works by Robert Ewerhart and Rupert Gottfried Frieberger at the music publisher Doblinger taken over in Vienna. The works were assigned to a non-existent composer Giovanni Bernardo Lucchinetti.

Life

Giovanni Bernardo Zucchinetti was a pupil of Giovanni Andrea Fioroni in Milan in his youth . In 1755 he became organist and conductor at the Cathedral of Varese . In 1757 he also took over this position at the Monza Cathedral . In 1765 he renounced both offices. His successor was his younger brother Giovanni Domenico Zucchinetti (1735 – after 1801). He went to Milan himself, where he was Kapellmeister and organist at the cathedral from 1773 and 1779. In 1779 he returned to Monza.
