Günther Kuhn

Günther Kuhn (born November 14, 1943 ) is a former German local politician ( CDU ). He was mayor from 1979 to 2011 and has been an honorary citizen of Külsheim since 2011 . He was the 13th mayor of this city since 1892.

Life

After losing his father in 1944 and his mother at the age of eight, he grew up with his aunt and uncle in Hardheim . His studies with specialization in surveying he joined as a graduate engineer and worked at the Land Consolidation Office (Department of Surveying) in Tauberbischofsheim .

In 1974 he joined the CDU. In 1979, the people of Külsheim elected him mayor for the first time. He was confirmed in office in 1982, 1995 and 2003. His service as head of the town hall of Brunnenstadt ended on June 30, 2011. He was mayor of Külsheim for 11,688 days. When he said goodbye, he was awarded the honorary citizenship of the city of Külsheim, the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon as well as the mayor's sash and the medal of honor from the twin town of Moret-sur-Loing . He is also the holder of the Staufer Medal and the golden badge of honor of the Baden-Württemberg Municipal Assembly for more than 30 years of local political activity.

Since October 1979 he was a member of the district assembly of the Main-Tauber district . From 1994 to 1999 he served as group leader . He ruled out a new candidacy . Günther Kuhn was represented in the district council for a total of 35 years.

During his career in local politics, he was a member of various bodies and committees. For example, he was a member of the Baden-Württemberg Municipal Assembly, the Association Assembly of the Franconian Government Association , the Advisory Board of the Heilbronn-Franken-Marketing GmbH economic region and the Board of Directors of Sparkasse Tauberfranken . He was also active as president of the Neckarland-Swabian tourism association and as deputy chairman of the Museumstrasse Odenwälder Bauernhaus association . He has headed the Main-Tauber roundabout watch since 1984 .

He has been married to his wife Edeltraud since 1971. They have a daughter and a son and two grandchildren.
