The Laurentius Church in Uissigheim

The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Laurentius in Uissigheim , a district of Külsheim , dates from 1847 and is consecrated to St. Laurentius of Rome .

history

The church tower is probably the former keep of Uissigheim Castle from the 12th century. The upper floor of the tower was expanded in the 16th century and 1606. On the back wall of the originally late Romanesque choir tower church on the Gospel side is the grave and the epitaph of the knight Arnold (probably Arnold III ). He was involved in the persecution of Jews in 1343 as the author and instigator and was captured by Mr. Gottfried von Hohenlohe, later transferred to Kitzingen and beheaded there with his own sword. The choir of the church is provided with a ribbed vault; the three-aisled nave was rebuilt in 1847 by August Moosbrugger .

The Laurentius Church in Uissigheim belongs to the pastoral care unit Külsheim-Bronnbach, which has been assigned to the Tauberbischofsheim deanery of the Archdiocese of Freiburg since a reform of the deanery on January 1, 2008 .
