Deanship reform

On January 1, 2008, a reform of the deanery in the Archdiocese of Freiburg resulted in the formation of the deanery Tauberbischofsheim as one of 26 deaneries. This emerged from three old deaneries: Lauda, Tauberbischofsheim and the former deanery Krautheim, which existed until the penultimate reform of the deanery. The three old deans characterize different cultural and historical landscapes of the north of the Archdiocese of Freiburg. While Tauberbischofsheim was part of the Archbishopric and Kurhochstift Mainz for centuries (the statutes of the deanery in the deanery archives go back to the year 1344), Lauda, on the other hand, belonged to the conglomerate between Mainz and Würzburg as the former city of the Hochstift Würzburg. As the southern tip of the dean's office, the old dean's office in Krautheim finally reached into Hohenlohe .

Pastoral conception

With a resolution on July 21, 2011, the Tauberbischofsheim dean's office published a pastoral concept in October 2011 . This defines “a targeted and differentiated distribution of tasks in the dean's office”. In addition, "it should be ensured that the division of labor between the individual pastoral care units and the resulting relief create space for focus and innovative tasks."

Mergers of several parishes

From the original 15 pastoral care units in the Tauberbischofsheim dean's office, their number was reduced to ten by merging by January 1, 2015:

  • The parish of Lauda was expanded to include the parishes of the former pastoral care unit Messelhausen on September 1, 2013. The pastoral care unit Lauda-Messelhausen was created.
  • The parishes of Großrinderfeld and Werbach formed the joint pastoral care unit Großrinderfeld-Werbach from January 1, 2015.
  • The parishes of Königshofen-Gerlachsheim and Lauda-Messelhausen merged on January 1, 2015 to form the Lauda-Königshofen pastoral care unit.
  • The parishes of Krautheim and Ravestein merged on January 1st, 2015 to form the pastoral care unit Krautheim-Ravenstein.
  • The parishes of Külsheim and Bronnbach merged on January 1, 2015 to form the pastoral care unit Külsheim-Bronnbach.
