The Maria-Hilf-Kapelle (also: St.-Marien-Kapelle ) in Werbach in the Main-Tauber-Kreis was built in 1883. She is consecrated to St. Mary in her role as a helper.

history

The chapel, known as Maria-Hilf-Kapelle and St. Marien Kapelle, was built by Franziska Ries and another single lady from the Ries family in 1883. In 1885 the chapel of the two ladies was donated to the church and is therefore the property of the church today.

In the early 1950s, the chapel was used as a church by Protestant Christians. During the renovation of the church in 1957, four figures were taken from the attic of the church of St. Martin in Werbach, recast by Karl Kempf and then placed in the chapel.

The roof structure of the chapel was completely renewed in 2016 for around 65,000 euros.

Today the Maria-Hilf-Chapel belongs to the pastoral care unit Werbach-Großrinderfeld, which is assigned to the deanery Tauberbischofsheim of the Archdiocese of Freiburg . Currently, women predominantly use the chapel for their rosary prayers.

Chapel building and equipment

The Maria-Hilf-Chapel was built from red sandstone at the intersection of Kapellenweg and Grabenweg in Werbach and is located next to the property of a carpenter's workshop. The chapel originally had a small tower with a bell. However, this was stolen over time.

The chapel is 45 square meters. Above the entrance is a statue of the Virgin Mary and the inscription "Ave Maria".

The altar as well as the eleven benches have been preserved in the original. There is also a gallery.
