The Roman Catholic court chapel in Hof Lilach is located in the center of the hamlet , which belongs to the municipality of Wittighausen in the Main-Tauber district .
history
The court chapel was built in 1864 and until 1926 had a pietà , which was created in 1650 in the workshop of the sculptor Tilman Riemenschneider . It was bought in the same year by the banker Baron Rothschild for 45,000 gold marks . Today the court chapel, like the village church of St. Martin in Poppenhausen, has a copy of the sculpture.
Chapel building and equipment
The chapel, built in neo-Romanesque style, has a copy of a Pietà and a Lourdes grotto , which is modeled on the one in the pilgrimage site of the same name in France.
