St. Dorothea (Dörlesberg)
The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Dorothea in Dörlesberg , a town in Wertheim in the Main-Tauber district , was built in 1721 and is consecrated to St. Dorothea . It belongs to the pastoral care unit Külsheim-Bronnbach, which is assigned to the deanery Tauberbischofsheim of the Archdiocese of Freiburg . The church is located at Hundheimer Straße 72 and is a listed building . It is a baroque building with an adjacent tower from 1910.
History and equipment
The Dörlesberg church was built between 1721 and 1722 under the Bronnbach abbot Joseph Hartmann. Most of the inhabitants of the village were probably Protestants as recently as the 17th century. After the agreement between the Bronnbach monastery and the Counts of Wertheim in 1772, Dörlesberg was assigned to the monastery rule and a phase of recatholicization began. The elaborate baroque church building in the early 18th century should also be understood in this context .
In 1910 a tower was added to the church. A side chapel was built next to it. The facade of the church also dates from this period. In the upper part of the facade there is a statue of the church patroness. Dorothea is shown with a basket filled with roses and fruits. The coat of arms of the builder and abbot Joseph Hartmann is located above the entrance door. Inside there is a rich baroque interior. The side altars come from Bronnbach Abbey and were consecrated on the same day as the church.
