history

Dörlesberg's origins go back to the time of the Celts. But in the course of history the name of the place has changed frequently: it was first mentioned in documents in 1151 as Dorlispur , later as Dorlich, Törlesberg, Torlichespur, Dorlisbur, Turlichesbur and Torlinsburc.

From 1553 to 1612 the population had completely converted to the Protestant faith, but was recatholized by the nearby Bronnbach Monastery , which held the right of patronage over the church and parish Dörlesberg , by 1674 . Today it is predominantly Roman Catholic with 78%.

While the community has long been heavily focused on agriculture, it has also been influenced by industrialization. Today most of the inhabitants of the village are employed in industry in the nearby town center or in one of the local businesses. Since the incorporation into the city of Wertheim, which took place on December 1, 1972, many structural and infrastructural measures have been taken, which were future-oriented for the village. Several new development areas and one commercial area were designated. Today, as part of a funding measure, special emphasis is placed on the renovation of buildings within a core zone in the old town. With the measure "Gaining space through interior development", some properties have already been given tax incentives.
