Eichel is a district and old town of the Eichel / Hofgarten district of the large district town of Wertheim in the Main-Tauber district of Baden-Württemberg in the administrative district of Stuttgart .
geography
Eichel is located in the east of the city center in a loop of the river Main to the north on the left bank and on the Gleithang. The settlement core stands at an altitude of 142 m above sea level. NHN . The place has grown together with the south-west neighboring Hofgarten , whose highest new building areas on the upper valley slope 230 m above sea level. Reach NHN . Eichel is crossed by the state road 2310 accompanying the river . The corresponding barrage Eichel is about one and a half kilometers upstream, the target of the river in the underwater from there to the next lock far down from Eichel is 134 m above sea level. history
Eichel probably owns the oldest church, a fortified church from the 9th century, in the Baden Main Franconia. Eichel was an independent community in the Tauberbischofsheim district office until it was incorporated into Wertheim in 1935 . Since January 1st 1973 the place belongs to the Main-Tauber-Kreis .
