The Tauberbischofsheim District Office (formerly Bischofsheim an der Tauber District Office ) was an administrative district in Baden from 1813 to 1938 . The Baden district offices were comparable in their function and size to a district .

history

The Tauberbischofsheim district office was founded in 1813 as the Bischofsheim an der Tauber district office and comprised 18 communities: Bischofsheim (today: Tauberbischofsheim ), Brunnthal (today: Brunntal ), Dienstadt , Distelhausen , Dittwar , Eiersheim , Großrinderfeld , Hochhausen , Hundheim , Königheim , Külsheim , Lauda , Marbach , Oberlauda , Schönfeld , Uissigheim , Werbach and Werbachhausen .

In the same year, the surrounding offices and district offices of Boxberg , Gerlachsheim and Wertheim were established . The seat of the district office was in Tauberbischofsheim, which today belongs to the Main-Tauber district as a district town . In 1864 the Gerlachsheim office was dissolved and its communities were assigned to the Tauberbischofsheim district office. In 1924, the Boxberg office was finally dissolved and its communities came mainly to the Tauberbischofsheim district office, some also to the Adelsheim office. The law on the redistribution of internal administration of June 30, 1936 finally repealed the Wertheim District Office and assigned its communities to the Tauberbischofsheim District Office.

With Section 1 (3) of the Third Ordinance on the Rebuilding of the Reich of November 28, 1938 (RGBl. I, p. 1675), these administrative districts were given the designation Landkreis with effect from January 1, 1939 .

Its communities were assigned to the Main-Tauber district in 1973.

Individual evidence

  1. Until the 19th century the name of the city was "Bischofsheim". In order to better distinguish between the towns of Bischofsheim am Neckar and Bischofsheim am Hohe Steg, however, the current name "Tauberbischofsheim" finally became established around 1850.
