Oberlauda is a district of Lauda-Königshofen in the Main-Tauber district of Baden-Württemberg with 653 inhabitants (as of August 2012) on an area of ​​6.96 km², which lies on the Romantic Road .

geography

There is a water protection area in the Oberlauda district : Water protection area Dittwar / Königheim / Gissigheim / Heckfeld / Oberlauda (WSG no. 128208); 5986.90 ha; since July 22, 1994. It is one of the largest water protection areas in the Main-Tauber district .

history

The village belonged to the Lauda office . This had a number of changing rulers until 1506 and was then part of the diocese of Würzburg until its secularization in 1803. It then came first to the principality of Leiningen . After the principality was dissolved in 1806 by the Rhine Federation Act , it was then added to the Grand Duchy of Baden .

On January 1, 1972 Oberlauda was incorporated into the city of Lauda and came with this on January 1, 1975 to Lauda-Königshofen.

Oberlauda Castle

The Oberlauda Castle was the seat of the Lauda Office until it was destroyed in the German Peasants' War . On Good Friday in 1525, insurgent farmers set fire to the large complex above Oberlauda.

Weather cross

In 1714, a " weather cross " was erected as an "eternal memory" of a major storm damage , which is shown on many hiking maps. This weather cross forms the boundary stone to the districts of five old communities ( Distelhausen , Dittigheim , Dittwar , Lauda and Oberlauda), whose coats of arms are depicted on it.
