Living and building

Building areas

Heckfeld consists of a historically grown and densely built-up town center and new building areas that have gradually expanded to the west, especially on Kirchberg between the 1970s and 1990s. With the "Kirchberg III" Heckfeld currently has a building area on the western edge of the town. The old core of Heckfeld has a village-like appearance with an agricultural character, with only one full-time farmer residing in the inner-city location. Many of the buildings in the town center date from the 19th century. There is only a small number of private house gardens, due to agricultural use. However, Heckfeld has a larger allotment garden area on the northern edge of the village, which characterizes the townscape.

MELAP-PLUS model location

In 2010, Heckfeld applied for the state-wide model project "MELAP PLUS" - with success: Heckfeld became one of the 13 MELAP-PLUS model locations in Baden-Württemberg. Since then, funding has mainly been available for conversion and modernization, but also for new buildings in the old town or for demolition with subsequent open space design.

FC Heckfeld later picked up on this tradition and performed one or two small pieces each year for the Christmas party. Many theater enthusiasts found each other and so the theater group "Frei Schnauze" was created as a subgroup of the sports club.

In 2014 this group celebrated its 25th stage anniversary. The performances take place every year on the first three weekends in October in the Sportheim Heckfeld.
