The Heckfelder See is a lake created in 1974 near Heckfeld , a district of Lauda-Königshofen . In addition to the large Heckfelder See (1.72 ha), there has been another, smaller Heckfelder See (0.7 ha) since 1984.

location

The lake is located on the Heckfeld district marking of the city of Lauda-Königshofen in the Ahorn forest in the upper valley of the Schüpfbach just before the Schüpfbachtal bridge on the A81 . It is mainly fed by the Schüpfbach, which flows further downwards from the left into the Umpfer , which in turn flows from the left into the Tauber at Königshofen .

The Schüpfbachtal cycle path leads from Unterschüpf via Oberschüpf, Lengenrieden and Kupprichhausen to the Heckfelder See. The Liebliches Taubertal cycle path - the sporty one at Heckfelder See - leads over this .

history

1973: Founding of a fishing club and construction of a large lake

After the Lauda fishing club was founded on March 30, 1973, construction work began on the large Heckfelder See one year later. Its dammed-up water area has a size of 1.72 hectares. Another year later, the first Heckfelder Seefest took place, which was to make the fishing club known far beyond the borders for the next 12 years. In the heyday, for example, a marquee with 1,600 seats was not enough to accommodate all the visitors.

The fishing club celebrated its 10th anniversary in 1983 with a gala evening in the Oberlaudaer Halle.

1984: Construction of a second, small lake

In 1984 a second, small Heckfelder lake with an area of 0.7 ha was built.

On Corpus Christi Day , June 21, 1984, heavy rain led to a flood disaster, which also affected the Schüpfbach, which feeds the lake with water. Kupprichhausen and the surrounding communities were affected. There was damage in the high tens of millions.

In 1996 the Heckfeld lake and leisure facility was inaugurated.

2018: Refurbishment of the small lake

After the construction activity of beavers on the dam of the small Heckfelder See leaked and this threatened to empty, the small lake had to be drained in September 2017. The fishing club previously switched on the district office of the Main-Tauber district and the Stuttgart regional council. During an on-site meeting, the representatives of the authorities discussed various measures until the realization matured that a simple wire lock would not help. Effective dam protection can only be achieved by applying wire mesh to the embankment of the dam, for which the water had to be drained. Furthermore, about 1.50 meters of the existing dam had already been washed away by the wave break of the past 30 years.

A comprehensive renovation of the small Heckfelder See necessarily took place in 2018. The load of around 20 large trucks was built into the small lake in order to compact the 100 meter long and up to four meter high wall on the embankment facing the road. It was about 300 tons of recycled stones.
