Rainer Pietsch (born June 8, 1957 in Cottbus ) is a former German soccer player in the storm . He played for BSG Energie Cottbus , FC Vorwärts Frankfurt (Oder) and BSG Wismut Aue in the GDR league .

Career

Pietsch played in his youth from 1965 to 1969 for his home club BSG Progress Cottbus and then in the youth teams of BSG Energie Cottbus. At the BSG he made his debut on December 8, 1973 in the GDR Oberliga at the age of 16, when he was in the starting line-up on matchday 13 of the 1973/74 season in the 1: 2 win against BSG Stahl Riesa . 1975/76 he completed three more league games for energy. After the season, Pietsch moved to FC Vorwärts Frankfurt (Oder), for whom he first played on September 3, 1977. After relegation, Frankfurt managed to rise again immediately in 1979. In this 1979/80 season , Pietsch was one of the permanent staff and only missed one game. In the 23 games he scored five goals. His first league goal was on September 1, 1979 in the 3-2 defeat against 1. FC Magdeburg . Especially towards the end of the season he proved to be accurate. In the following 1980/81 season , Pietsch was only used eleven times, but scored four times. At the same time, he played two games for Frankfurt in the 1980/81 UEFA Cup . While Vorwärts was able to prevail in the first round against Ballymena United , they were eliminated in the second round against VfB Stuttgart . In the league season 1981/82 he scored 16 goals in 22 games. 1983/84 there were even 17 hits in 26 league games. In the following season, Pietsch was only used in the first half of ten games in which he met once. In the 1984/85 UEFA Cup , he scored a goal in the 62nd minute in a 2-0 win over PSV Eindhoven . However, due to a 3-0 defeat in the second leg, Frankfurt was eliminated in the first round.

In 1985 Pietsch moved back to BSG Energie Cottbus, where he completed 16 games in the second half of the GDR league in 1984/85 , including eleven substitutions, and scored three goals. Already in the summer he moved to the Oberliga BSG bismuth Aue, for which he 1985/86 four league games and a game in the UEFA Cup in 1985/86 played. At the beginning of 1986 Pietsch was signed by BSG Chemie Leipzig , where he ended his career in 1989.
