history
middle Ages
In 1314 the village Dienstadt was first mentioned in a document as Distad . It is a settlement from the Merovingian era . The place was mentioned when the court of Eberhard von Rosenberg was first mentioned. Already in 1341 the place was renamed Dienstadt . In the 14./15. In the 19th century, the town was bought in full by the Bischofsheim Hospital. After that, Dienstadt was always closely related to Tauberbischofsheim. In 1433 the place belonged to the city of Tauberbischofsheim and should come directly under the archbishop's office in exchange.
Modern times
In 1668, however, the lower court still belonged to the Tauberbischofsheim Hospital. All other rulership rights and official affiliations are comparable with the history of Tauberbischofsheim. Dienstadt belonged to Mainz until 1803, then to Leiningen until 1806, after which it came to Baden.
From 1813 the place belonged to the district office Tauberbischofsheim , which in turn became part of the district of Tauberbischofsheim and in 1973 in the Main-Tauber district. On January 1, 1972 Dienstadt was incorporated into Tauberbischofsheim as part of the regional reform in Baden-Württemberg .
